Mt.Everst

From the windswept Tibetan plateau, behold the commanding north face of Mount Everest—a humbling and awe-inspiring vista. This is the sacred Chomolungma, “Mother Goddess of the World,” offering a profoundly spiritual encounter with the roof of our planet.

Mt. Kalish

Rising in perfect symmetry from the Tibetan plateau, Mount Kailash is a natural mandala of ice and rock. For millennia, pilgrims have embarked on the 52-kilometer kora around its base, seeking purification in the thin air and shadow of this most holy mountain

Dolma la pass

The Dolma La Pass on the Mount Kailash kora (pilgrimage circuit) is approximately 5,630 meters (18,471 feet) above sea level.

It is the highest point on the sacred trek around Mount Kailash and is a profoundly significant spiritual site for pilgrims.

The kora way

The 52-km route is not just a trail; it’s a physical allegory for the path to enlightenment, with key sites representing spiritual challenges and milestones:

The world’s highest lake

The famous turquoise lake just below the Dolma La Pass is called Gauri Kund (or Gaurikunda).

However, in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, this sacred lake is known as Tukje Chenpo Lake (or Thukje Chenpo), which translates to “Lake of Great Compassion.”

The Kora

For the most devout, the Kora is done not by walking, but by full-body prostration (lying flat, marking the spot with hands, standing, and repeating). This can take weeks and is the ultimate act of humility and devotion, physically measuring one’s body against the sacred ground.

In essence, the Kora is far more than a trek. It is a moving meditation, a ritual of cosmic alignment, and a transformative journey designed to change the pilgrim from the inside out, using the mountain as the ultimate spiritual catalyst.

Darchen

A start point and the finish point of Mount Kailash Kora.
